FAQ

Common questions

Where is the work carried out?

At our studio. Correction and coating are conducted in our specialty studio, created for these applications — the lighting is controlled, which is how swirls and defects are found in the first place, and the environment is clean and stable, which is what a coating needs to cure against.

What is paint correction, and how many stages do I need?

Paint correction removes swirl marks from a poor cut and polish, environmental damage from being left out in the elements, and the marks, scuffs and scratches of day-to-day use. We run 3, 4, 5 and 6 stage processes — which one your car needs depends on the severity and depth of the damage, the colour, and the type of duco the manufacturer applied. It's conducted in our specialty studio built for these applications.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

It depends on the coating. Graphene Pro 10H N1 is our hardest — 10H, up to 1000nm thick, and it lasts a lifetime. Quartz 9H Pro is 9H, up to 800nm, and lasts up to 5 years. Quartz Ceramic Coating is 9H, up to 800nm, around 3 years. Our interior coating works on both leather and fabric and protects for up to 12 months.

My paint looks dull and swirled. Can it be brought back?

Usually, yes. We specialise in surface damage through our 4 stage exterior process — brush marks, spider webbing, oxidised dull or plain neglected paint work. The vehicle is pressure washed, hand washed and rinsed, clay barred, machine cut to remove the scratches and dullness, machine glazed to de-swirl and restore gloss, then hand polished to seal and protect.

Is graphene worth it over a standard ceramic?

Graphene Pro 10H N1 is the hardest coating we apply. It holds gloss and beading longer than a standard ceramic and is more forgiving of heat and water spotting. Whether it is worth the difference depends on the car and how it is stored — our operators will tell you honestly.

Should I coat a new car straight away?

It is the best time to do it. There is no accumulated damage to correct first, so the coating goes onto paint that is already close to perfect and the finish is locked in from the start.

Does a coating need maintaining?

Minimal, but not nothing. Wash it properly and it will hold its gloss and beading for years. We can walk you through the maintenance, or put you on a scheduled maintenance program.

Can I still use an automatic wash?

We would not recommend it. Brush washes are what put the swirl marks and spider webbing into paint that correction later has to remove.

Can you coat just the wheels or the glass?

Yes. Wheels, glass and trim can be coated on their own or alongside the paint. Coated glass sheds water and is easier to keep clear.

Can you quote a coating over the phone?

We can give you a range, but not a firm price. What a coating costs depends on the size of the car and how much correction the paint needs first — that has to be seen.
